Naperville Central High School

This is a highly diverse, high-performing high school. There are great academic opportunities here, thanks to the skilled team of effective teachers. Students also have access to a number of clubs and activities, as well as college prep programs. Naperville Central has 2,677 students in grades 9 to 12, with a student-teacher ratio of 15 to 1. Of these students, 70% are at least proficient in math, and 67% are proficient in reading.

History

Naperville Central High School is a historic education institution located right outside the downtown business district of Naperville. The school is within walking distance of the iconic Naperville Riverwalk and close to the Edward Hospital campus. The school was built and established in 1916, giving it a long history of leading in the education of the community’s students.

The campus and its buildings have been modified significantly over the years, often expanding or adapting the structures to suit current needs. For example, in 1992, a Student Services wing was added to the main building to provide students with additional services. Other additions include an auditorium, natatorium, field house, and library.

Of course, with such a historical building, there are some issues. For example, people are sometimes concerned about the safety and reliability of the school because it lacks particular building organization and the infrastructure is aging. Some even complain that the educational spaces are inadequate and the facilities are lacking. Still, the school has proven that it can achieve reasonable educational outcomes for students in spite of the outdated facilities.
